History Trip

 History trip

On Monday 10th of June Room's 9,8 and 7 went on a trip to Nelson to learn more about the history of New Zealand.
First Room 9 went to the Museum then to the Bishop School and last of all the Sculpture walk.

My favourite was the Bishop School  and I will tell you a bit about it. Firstly we dressed in our olden day clothes, girls wore ribbons in their hair and white dresses with mob hats. You can see me and Brydie wearing these in the photo.   I thought they were itchy and we looked funny in them and the dresses had no fittied shape.  The boys wore caps, shorts, long socks and waist coats.  We all looked quite funny in the sort of clothes kids wore to school in the 1900s.

Then we had to line up in two lines one girls the other boys.
One of our class mates Gus had to knock on the door and say we were ready for morning school.  We walked into the class room and sat at wooden desks.
There was a teacher waiting for us his name was Mr Campbell  but we had to call him Sir. He was very strict and he wore a long dark green coat that looked like a wizards coat.
We did some work like maths and handwriting. After that Mr Campbell  stopped being a teacher and talked to us about school in the 1900s.

Then we went to the Sculpture walk.
