trip to nelson

On Monday the 10th of June Rooms 7, 8 and 9 went to Nelson and did a rotation of three activities. One class went to Bishop School when the other classes went to the museum and  sculpture walk. First we went to the museum and there was an activity sheet that we had to fill in which had 23 questions. Then we went to Bishop School, the teacher there was very strict so we did some arithmetic [real life maths like if I had 1 dollar and I got another how many would I have?] and some spelling but the clothing we had to wear was horrible and itchy. Then he turned into one of the museum directors. After that we went on the sculpture walk, there were some wonderful sculptures  but my favourite was the Japanese dogs leading to the peaceful Japanese gardens.

History Trip

 History trip

On Monday 10th of June Room's 9,8 and 7 went on a trip to Nelson to learn more about the history of New Zealand.
First Room 9 went to the Museum then to the Bishop School and last of all the Sculpture walk.

My favourite was the Bishop School  and I will tell you a bit about it. Firstly we dressed in our olden day clothes, girls wore ribbons in their hair and white dresses with mob hats. You can see me and Brydie wearing these in the photo.   I thought they were itchy and we looked funny in them and the dresses had no fittied shape.  The boys wore caps, shorts, long socks and waist coats.  We all looked quite funny in the sort of clothes kids wore to school in the 1900s.

Then we had to line up in two lines one girls the other boys.
One of our class mates Gus had to knock on the door and say we were ready for morning school.  We walked into the class room and sat at wooden desks.
There was a teacher waiting for us his name was Mr Campbell  but we had to call him Sir. He was very strict and he wore a long dark green coat that looked like a wizards coat.
We did some work like maths and handwriting. After that Mr Campbell  stopped being a teacher and talked to us about school in the 1900s.

Then we went to the Sculpture walk.

Camp 2013

Camp 2013!

Camp was a great experience with loads of fun cool and challenging activities!
There were many activities that I enjoyed, but the one that really stood out for me was probably archery. I loved doing the archery even though I only got the target once.  I also loved doing the kayaking and having the race at the end between me [Rebecca] and Jonty.  Boy it was such a race to the finish, but very luckily I just managed to beat him, which now means girls can be better than boys!

So I would like to say a big thank you to all of the parents who helped me out on camp
and have a safe and happy Easter.

Term 1, Week 6

Only one week to go before camp at Lake Rotoiti.  The excitement is mounting!  You can start bringing in your packet/box of crackers from now on.  Look through the gear list to see if there is anything on it you may need to arrange to borrow.  If the list is lost, Mr T will have spares.

This is a regular week, with no interruptions!

Homework

Spelling - learn your words by Friday.  Try writing them out so that they stay in your brain.

Maths - Complete the next sheet/pages of your maths homework.

Reading - Fill in your reading log during the week.

It's been really hot at school, so Will has to water our classroom garden so that the sunflowers don't die.

One day during the week, Rooms 8 and 9 had a game of 'Capture the Flag'. It was a tie 1 - 1.

Marco, class librarian for Wednesday, is reading to other students.
